Alternative formats
Not every session has to happen in two chairs facing each other. Some happen beside a dog, and some under trees. Two formats, one purpose: making it easier to talk.
The resident dog
Watson is a rescue. Born in the body of a hunting dog with the mind of a lap dog. With zero interest in hunting or chasing things, he was dumped by the hunters by the side of a road. If it weren't for the shelter that saved him, he would never have made it to Belgium, and never into the sessions where he now does his part in making people feel better.
He has the gentle presence of a dog who knows what a second chance is worth. His specialty: settling in next to the person who needs him most.
Canine therapy
For many people, talking comes easier with a calm animal in the room. A dog's presence takes the edge off: silences feel less awkward, heavy subjects feel lighter, and there is always somewhere warm to rest a hand. Watson joins our session and does what he does best: being there. There is no obligation to interact with him; he is perfectly content just being nearby humans.
Not the right fit if you have a dog allergy or a strong fear of dogs, although Watson has converted a sceptic or two.
Green therapy
Some conversations flow better side by side than face to face. In green sessions, our talk takes place in the greenery of a forest or park of Brussels, walking or on a bench, at your pace. Movement and nature do part of the work: they settle the nervous system and give thoughts room to unfold.
Weather-dependent, with an online or indoor fallback. And yes, the two formats combine well; Watson is an enthusiastic walker.
